Vitamins are essential organic compounds in human metabolism. The human body is like an extremely complex chemical factory, constantly undergoing various biochemical reactions. The reaction is closely related to the catalysis of enzymes. For enzymes to be active, coenzymes must be present. Many vitamins are known to be coenzymes of enzymes or to be constituent molecules of coenzymes. Therefore, vitamins are important substances to maintain and regulate the normal metabolism of the body. Arguably, the best vitamins are in the form of "bioactive substances" that exist in human tissues.
Vitamins are a huge family. There are dozens of vitamins known at this stage, which can be roughly divided into two categories: fat-soluble and water-soluble. Some substances are similar to a certain vitamin in chemical structure and can be converted into vitamins through simple metabolic reactions. Such substances are called provitamins. For example, β-carotene can be converted into vitamin A; 7-dehydrocholesterol can be converted into vitamin A. Vitamin D3; but it is formed through many complex metabolic reactions. Tryptophan in niacin cannot be called a provitamin.
